I am going to guess that if DBF is getting all this debt off of his open balances, and he can transition to using the cards lightly, just a bare minimum of new charges on the cards, let those report balances on the statements, and PIF every single solitary month, no interest costs allowed, within 6 months, a year at the outside, his FICO scores will improve.

 

So, DBF should step up and get his FICO scores in order, and get his own loan from a local CU, then pay you back for the remaining balances, take on the balances under his own name, as soon as it is feasible.

 

I will go so far as to say, if he does not do this, you need to reconsider his ability to manage money.
