I applied to join DCU because I eventually want to apply for one of their cards. First they wanted my driver's license. I sent that. Now they want a copy of a utility bill and my social security card. Is this normal? I really don't like sending out my social security card, which can lead to identity theft.
Update: I went ahead and uploaded all the documents about an hour ago. Just now got an email saying I was approved for membership. ![Smiley Very Happy Smiley Very Happy](/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif)
I love DCU as much as I love Navy. DCU by far as the best car loan rates of any credit union I have found. I got a 2.75 rate with a credit score of about 675 (the fico score dcu gives me). Where else can you get an interest rate that low with a credit score under 700. I also have their credit card that I don't use. No reason I just have over 20 credit cards there's is not even needed just got it because they pulled my credit already for membership so I applied for the card with the same credit pull. There only downside is getting in touch with a live person it will probably take from 20-50 mins but that doesn't bother me like it does others. I'm a patient guy so I just put it on speaker phone and go about my life until a Rep comes on the phone. Patience is a virture.
