Not quite sure where this belongs, but I woke up and had 17 emails from DHGate, referring to orders placed and cancelled. Since I never even heard of the site I was a little alarmed. Later I discovered the first email was a registration one.
I logged into the site, via Forgot Password. Looking at the orders, for electronics etc about $5-10 each, they are being shipped to a name and address in DC. But no charges on any of my cards. Playing around, it looks like you can register for the site with any email. A confirmation is sent to that email to unlock various features, but not needed. You can order without email verfication, using a credit card that you specify each time.
So I have written a complaint to DHGate (response planned in 24 hours), changed my gmail password for the email used, but I can't tell how hacked I was! The ability to use literally any email seems strange!
I have bought from them they are a Direct from China sales channel with plenty of counterfeit items

I guessed that from the "very reasonable" prices!

Sorry this happened -- sounds like a phishing attempt to me. It's good that you've changed your PWs, I wouldn't have logged in to their site.
Also I'll move this thread to Personal Finance.
Looks like another wish.com-type deal. There are some hysterical unboxing videos on YouTube about crap from sites like wish.com.
Followup: customer service seemed quite helpful. They told me to contact my credit card issuer, but since none of my cards had any charges that would have been hard. When I explained and asked for the last four of the credit card number used, they responded with 10. The BIN isn't recognized (222934) so I don't know how reliable that is, but it really doesn't seem to be my card.
So someone created an account with one of my emails, and ordered stuff with a credit card that wasn't mine. I guess if the cc wasn't theirs it makes sense as a scam (adding me to confuse the trail) but really doesn't seem master criminal stuff.
