Debit card purchases-Welcome Bonus-Citizens Bank

There is promotion going on by Citizens Bank for the $400 Welcome bonus for opening a new checking account. $300 would be given after a direct deposit of $500 within 60 days, and another $100 would be given when debit card purchases be made within 60 days. They would give credit of $2 per purchases, and maximum credit they would give is $100. So, in order to earn or get this $100 welcome bonus, one would need to make at least 50 purchases/transactions and each transaction/purchase must be of at least $2.

However, they would like this debit card purchases/transactions to be signature/PIN ones....So, my question is- has anyone ever tried to put the funds to Amazon gift card thru debit card in order to be eligible for this $100 welcome bonus? I mean, is there anyone who has practical knowledge or personal experience in doing so? I am just wondering if I reload my Amazon gift card for $2 each time to get this $100 bonus, would these purchases be eligible for this $100 welcome bonus?? Thanks

$2 Amazon debits have worked for me; just spread them out over a few weeks.

Have you personally tried and experienced it with Citizens bank for such promotion? If so, when that was? Thanks

I did it in May 2023.  More recent information might be at:

I'm doing citizens. Just finished 60 days. I did debit the old fashioned way at the self checkout, lol. Every store was 3 or4 purchase. Went to movies,  two tickets and popcorn, three purchases.  I got the 50. Now I'm waiting.

Just opened their "One Deposit Checking Account" since I have a HELOC with them, and moving funds over from their HELOC to their checking is one option to access funds instead of using checks all the time.

Direct Desposit has all ready been changed so I see this Bonus sometime in August. Afterwards I will change the DD to miniscule amount to avoid the monthly service fee. I'll report bank upon the bonus being deposited.

I collected the $400, froze the debit card, put in my sock drawer. I use ach push from my fidelity account for the direct deposit. Now I'm coming up on 6 months since opening, will close account. Start clock so I can churn again.

Do you need to keep the account opened for at least 6 months for this SUB??

No, but I keep them open 6 months. Don't want to get on a $hit list.
