Discover Checking - Replace w/ Citi/Chase Checking Services?

I recently started utilizing Discover checking/savings account and as of late, I am experiencing very poor degradation from their webiste and application.  I have had no issues with the credit card side of the house.  Something else that I have noticed is that it usually takes 2 days before a transaction shows up on Discover's site.  Example, i made a payment yesterday to Citi, but I am not seeing that transaction on Discover side yet - although Citi has already credited my account with payment.  I made a payment to Chase yesterday as well, but utilize Regions bank and that transaction was refelected on Regions this morning.  I also transferred a around 3500 in an ACH transfer and it took around 5 days for the funds to become available on Discover.  I know ACH is synonyms with horse and buggy delivery speed, but Discover seems slower than most.  Lastly, I know this is petty, but they are on MST time and I want to find a bank that is on Eastern time, since I am on Central - When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is grab my phone and start checking my financials.  On Friday's, when I was using brick and mortar facilities I could check my account at 5am and see my direct deposits.  With Disocver I can't see the deposits hit until 7am central.  I find this really annoying - my day begins at 5am and I want my information/funds available at that time.  So if anyone can speak for Chase/Citi on that issue, I would like to know what time direct deposits hit.

Anyone else that utilizes checking/savings from Discover experiencing said issues?  I am contemplating switching to Chase or Citi for my checking and leaving the savings at Dsicover due to their higher APY.  Can anyone provide details on Chase/Citi in regards to their checking services - I am mainly interested in well rounded app that provides quick access to my financial accounts and supports features such as mobile deposits.  Free checks would be nice.  I have a Citi DC and Chase CSP/Freedom/Amazon.com Rewards and both of their app's seem great for credit card use.  Thanks in advance for the insight.

Re: Discover - Citi/Chase services

My findings confirm yours. It seems Discover is in a different time warp. Slow doesn't even cover it. Why when a transfer of funds is electronic does it really take seven days in my case. Made several. It shows in the other bank days before. I know elctronics are not that slow. Yes, I know about their right to take a certain number of business days as it is permitted but why in the modern age does it take so long? USAA Federal Savings Bank can turn transfers around for me in less than 24 hours so I am spoiled by them. US Bank has done transfers in one to two days for me so that seems fair (they show on the website/mobile apps too).

Re: Discover - Citi/Chase services

Does anyone have any experience with Citi/Chase - specifically direct deposits; do they hit early in the morning Eastern time?  As I stated above, Discover does not show up until 7am central time.  I am not sure why they would have their banking on MST, I guess it has its pros/cons, but for me it is definitely a con.

I also got a discover cashback checking and discover savings.  It does seem rather slow.

Ally is by far the fastest bank I have dealt with.  For example I made a check to myself...used the ally bank app to deposit and in 2 days it was availiable in my account.  It showed before as a blance but availiable fully in 24 hours or less.

Discover takes days even for a $100 transfer from my bank fo america to discover.

What I do like about discover is the iphone app.  I can just turn my iphone screen on...swipe from top to bottom and i see my balances on all accounts.

Wow, that would be a cool feature - I use andorid, and the app does not have that functionality.  I have to login to see balances.  It is such a hassel to change direct depost because they have to cut a live check before they start making direct deposits with my employer.    I had to deposit live check at my brick and mortar facility and then do an ACH transfer to Discover - take took way too long.  My bi-weekly payroll exceeds the 3500 limit set by Discover for a mobile app deposit.  Does Ally charge for checks and do you know what their max deposit by mobile app is?  Thanks

You may deposit up to $10,000 per day and $25,000 every 30 days using eCheck Deposit.

Re: Discover - Citi/Chase services

Here is a pic of the Discover feature I am talking about.  I have accounts in bank of america, chase, capital one 360's, ally, simple bank and none of them do this.
