Re: Discover versus Goldman Sachs

I'm waiting for my first Netspend card to show up as we speak, plan to have all 5 Netspend and at least 2 Insight by the time I'm done. Also waiting for the welcome mailer from DCU but I missed out on Blue because I had 4 inquiries (3 max according to CSR) on the Chexsystem, had opened Ally the day before to act as central hub for everything, would have gone for Blue first had I known about their limitation.

Re: Discover versus Goldman Sachs

These Insight and Netspend cards are interesting.  It seems there may be difficulties in keeping them fee free.  How do you manage them to actually make money?  It will probably be another year before I tap out the Credit Unions and would need an alternate such as these, but learning about them can't hurt.

Re: Discover versus Goldman Sachs

As long as you set the cards up for "pay as you go", the only fee you need to worry about is the inactive fee since you will never use the cards, which can be satisfied by $1 auto ACH transfer to the cards every 2 months.

Re: Discover versus Goldman Sachs

Workin4abetterFICO, do you mind sharing the 3% savings accounts you mentioned, I did some reading and only came up with Premier Members CU (3% APY up to $2K) in addition to DCU and Blue, I'm not looking for checking accounts that require debit card transactions. Thanks.

Re: Discover versus Goldman Sachs

Thanks for the link, didn't get an email notification that you replied, good thing I checked back in after a kudos notification. I have used that site for monitoring rates but never thought about entering $500 to pull out the odd ball accounts, thanks for the tip. Here is another mega yield savings link that you might find interesting, as well as step by step guide to Insight and Netpend 5% savings when you're ready.
