Does opening a savings account hurt one's credit score?

I'm thinking about opening a savings account at Bofa. After filling out the application form, I noticed the following message:

By selecting Continue, you authorize us to obtain a credit report or other report or account information from credit or information services agencies to help verify the information you provide in this application; for consideration of other accounts and services, and for any other lawful purpose. If your information does not meet certain qualifications, you will not be able to proceed with your application at this time.

In this case, would I receive a hard pull if I apply for the account?

Do you already have any accounts with BofA?

FWIW, I opened a savings account with CapitalOne (where I already have two credit card accounts) during the summer and I see a soft pull for both TU and EQ from around that time.

It's unlikely that there would be a hard pull on your credit reports. It's possible there could be a soft pull from the credit bureaus and/or a hard pull with Chex Systems and/or a hard pull with Early Warning Systems, none of which would affect your credit scores.
