I had an old checking account i had completely forgotten about charge off (due to some fees etc, it was overdrawn). As soon as I found out, I paid the bank, but they told me it'll be reported to EWS. Does this mean Bank of America is going to close my account now because I had an EWS ding?

Doubtful. Banks that use EWS pull it when you apply for an account to see if you have a history of problems with bank accounts. Once the account is open and everything is satisfactory there's no reason for them to continue to review EWS.
Nice bank - you pay them their fees that OD'd the account and they report it to EWS. I would have told them: Want me to pay this? Tell me in writing that you won't report it to EWS since I made everything good with you.
Right? I'm thinking of fighting it - I just ordered my EWS report to see if they actually reported it yet.
I'm waiting for my report so I can see how they reported it so I can fight it. Since when can you not write yourself a check to cash if you have money in your account?!?!?!

Good luck. I had a bank account that closed in good standing (closed because I wrote a check to myself to withdraw cash 🙄) years ago report to EWS, to this day I still can't get an NFCU account because of those idiots.
This doesn't even make sense... at most banks before the days of swiping the debit card inside the branch the way to make withdrawals in person was to make a check out to either 'Cash' or to yourself and present to a teller with a photo ID.
I've done this many, many times over the years.
If that's all that happened and there was no associated NSF or fraud you should be able to get the EWS issue resolved easily.
Items on EWS have a 7 year life just like credit reports. As soon as that time is up you should be good to go.
