Financial options other than RESP?

Hello everyone, so I read about RESP (specifically RESP fees) from a post by Insurance For Children and now I'm looking for other options to help me save up for my child's future. Any suggestions and recommendations would be very much appreciated.

I don't know about Canada but the U.S. has the 529 plan
