Re: Garden Club - December 2021

Good morning and happy Thursday, gardeners,

Got to work early (whut?), actually ate breakfast at home (whut?), and left mr. c playing playstation (he is taking off Th/F for the rest of the year, because use it or lose it leave).    Not gonna lie, a little jealous of mr c.

Also, doggos were completely thrown off by the change in schedule, and it was funny to see Bear's confusion.   Tiny seemed very anxious, but happy to be hanging out on the couch with mr.c when I left.

Chase seems to be under the delusion that I need to use it for something other than amazon purchases and wants me to add it to my Google/Samsung wallet so I can use it before my physical card arrives.   That's cute.   And sdfcu seems to think I need to take out a holiday loan, which is also cute.

Advent tea day 1 was "lovely morning" which leads me to believe I should be opening my advent calendar in the morning to decide when I should drink my tea, because last night was not the time for a fruity morning tea.   Today's tea is "sweet break" (hibiscus), so I brought it to work for my mid-day tea.

Have fun, y'all.   Boss returns Monday, so I guess I should finish all of those (work) tasks I've been procrastinating on over the holiday.

Re: Garden Club - December 2021

The kids are already at their correct locations and I'm at my first stop, HEB. This is the second day of "dense fog" and the second day of people driving like morons. I put it in quotes because it's foggy but not "foggy" to me. Let's not drive 30 mph in a 65 zone, in the passing lane. It's like people are asking to get hit. It's Monday, boo!! But at least it's payday! (Well tomorrow but I got paid yesterday! Yay RBFCU!)

Morning everyone

Having one of those mornings where as long as I don't think about the insomnia that was last night I don't feel tired yet. Coffee is also making up for the lie I'm telling myself at the moment. Seems to be working so far 🤷☕

Re: Garden Club - December 2021

Hello everybody,

Checking in for December. Only 32 days until I can start applying for doctorate programs. Smiley Tongue

Meanwhile, the big news is that the management figured out that I completed my M.S. and decided to hand me a huge project. The back story is that account managers are supposed to have an annual plan for each of their accounts. The leadership thought it would be a good idea for marketing to look through these plans and see what words or group of words jumped out in an attempt to see patterns in the text. The head of NA Marketing brought this up on October's regional call and no one seemed happy about that time-consuming project.

Fast forward to Tuesday and November's regional call. The head of NA Marketing very nervously said she needed a lot of my help on this. I pointed out that this can be done through a script in the R programming language that can not only show the most common words, but also generate word clouds, relationships between words and sentimental analysis with a look at the percentage of emotions shown in the text. It's a very common script and I used it in one class to look at the complete works of Charles Dickens.

She then said that these were account manager presentations and not Dickens. I responded with "Text is text". I'm thinking of getting that put on a T-shirt of coffee mug. Smiley Tongue

Meanwhile, another department is meeting with me next Wednesday and based on what I'm hearing, they're going straight to making an offer. My original plan was to ask my department to not counter, but this is one case where I might ask since I might get a better offer from them in light of this project.

Unfortunately, there is some sad news. My sister-in-law is in home hospice care and will almost certainly not live through this month. She's had a series of blood complications that led to liver issues that led to heart failure. She's on morphine, but she's also somewhat isolated in Minneapolis since her immediate family is in New York. Her estranged husband is taking care of everything, including their two children. Also, my brother had triple bypass surgery this morning and there is some concern about his overall health. My father had multiple heart attacks and my mother had a triple bypass, so that makes taking of myself all the more important. My annual physical is Monday and the blood work follows on Thursday. I'm not too worried since I've been watching what I eat.

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well.

No credit news is good credit news!
