I have had a share account with PenFed for a while. I was recently approved for 2 credit cards. I am interested in opening up a checking account with them. But, it has always given me this restricted information. I live in Illinois, am I out of their region for checking?
Maybe, contact them
hahaha, totally! just pick up the phone dude calling them now.
The same thing shows up for me. Did calling them help with getting checking opened?
Same thing happened to me when I first opened my account with Penfed. A 2 minute conversation with customer service and all was resolved.
Yep, sorry I meant to reply a quick convo can clear things up. call their csr number.
PenFed customer service is very friendly. I made a mistake depositing a check to a share account that resulted in some ach fee. I called and asked them what I am supposed to do and to inquire about checking.
the girl immediately reversed the fee. said hold on a minute and illl open a checking account for you. she came back in 3 minutes and said all is good and I was able to raise the limit on your Promise Visa to $8,000.00 (I didnt poke about that)!
I am curious though when I will start to receive my fico score from them?
How are you liking your checking? Is their interface nice? It looks like it from screenshots I've seened, but sometimes when you get into the meat of account info, it can be underwhelming. I'm picky about website/app, particularly for bill pay. Thought of moving some checking stuff. Decided not to. Now thinking again.
Have you used iphone (or the like) deposit? If so, are there useable limits? Do they post fast?
Have you done other ACH to/from BoA? Again, question of timeframe?
Have you had a direct deposit hit yet? Do you get it a day early like I do with my local CU?
I was looking at the fees on their site. I get that the monthly fee is waived with $x dd. But is there really a fee for bill pay? There's a bunch of fees in that little section. It looks like there are different 'levels' of bill pay? Have you used it?
I'm thinking of calling them today to ask a few questions. But I'll try here first. Thanks. It's hard to find people who get excited by new bank accounts...except around here.
