My wife and I are planning on putting in a pool this year and decided to see what rates I could get on a personal loan. I have never actually had a personal loan, but one of my employees recently got one with Sofi to consolidate her CC debt and seemed pretty slick. I put in an app for $35k, which is a bit over the amount we needed, but I was curious. This would just get us to where we need about 3-5 months faster.
I was denied lol.
Requested loan amount is too high
Excessive debt obligations
My only debt is a mortgage (owe 399k), I make $175k a year, and my credit score is 845.
I was not expecting that haha so I thought I would share.
(I also did Upstart, Disco, Rocket, and Citi, all approved. I will probably end up with Rocket as they had a 6% and gave me 50k which is a lot more than I asked for!)
