Since you already have a student loan and a car loan; you technically still have installment accounts in your credit mix, so closing that personal loan shouldn’t have a huge long-term impact. The bigger factors for building your score right now will be keeping your credit utilization low on that secured card; making on-time payments across all accounts; and avoiding unnecessary hard inquiries. If you really want another installment account for mix purposes; you could look into a small “credit builder” loan from a local credit union or online lender; but it’s not worth taking on debt you don’t need just for a few points. Focus on steady positive history and your score will improve over time.
