So I've been searching for a good high yield savings account and found out that Alliant has a nice 1% APY savings. I started seaching around here to see how everyone felt about Alliant, and I quickly found out that becoming a member would be a no brainer. I've been a member of NFCU for 3 years now and love them, but I wanted to do something more with my eFund (which is with CapOne 360) and decided to look into another CU.
For now I'm just going to grow my savings account with Alliant while I pay down the rest of my CC debt before I even try to apply for any Alliant products.
I'm also planning on applying with PenFed in a couple months after my CC's report zero balances. I want to get away from banks 100%. NFCU will still be my main hub, but I wanted to get in with Alliant and soon PenFed.
Don't forget about the .65% checking account it's not too bad. Also if you are looking for a longer term position for your emergency fund the 5 year CD rates arent too bad
Congratulations on your new membership!

Thank you! Oh I'll have to look into that 5 year CD. Thanks for the tip!
Congratulations on your Alliant CU membership!
You will really wonder why it took this long to find them because they are excellent in so many ways.

Thanks! Congrats to you as well!
Did the $50 bonus just show up or did you have to use the promo code?
I recieved an email with the promo code the day after I opened my checking account, so I sent a secure message asking if it could still be applied to my account.
They replied-
"As long as you meet the two requirements within 90 days you will qualify for the bonus. To qualify for the High Rate Checking Account, you must meet both of the High Rate Checking Requirements every month. I have listed both of the High Rate Checking Requirements below.
*Electronic deposit methods include: direct deposit, payroll deposit, ATM deposit, eDeposit, eDeposit Plus, mobile deposit, or completing an electronic ACH transfer from another financial institution."
I would recommend sending a secure message as well to confirm.
Congratz ! ! ! !
and excellent choices on Alliant, Navy & Pen Fed :-)
