If you are living in the state of California homeowners insurance can be very challenging. Here is a suggestion which I will use. The link is to the California Department of Insurance. There are several things it can supply 1) Is a list of of companies that are underwriting insurance 2) the compare premium feature can give you a general idea of what each insurance company would charge. You would need a quote for your residence. 3) A list of companies that offer earthquake coverage. You can learn what other types of insurance the company offers.
