So I was at a citibank location (usually don't need to go to a location but I wanted to deposit a check. I walked in and wanted to speak to one of the A/C manager when I noticed a sign at front saying "All new accounts will be checked against ChexSystems". This sign wasn't there before. I am not sure if this is just a PSA and they have been checking it before or a new policy by CIti.
So anyone who has anything on Chex should definitely avoid Citi

Hello! I work in the banking industry and ALL accounts opened are ALL checked against Chexsystems. Its just the way things are done although some banks are considered second chance banks so depending on how much time has passed even if you are in chexsystems you *may* be able to get an account. ymmv.

The reason I posted it because I remember NY and Citibank had some kind of deal. Here is the link. If it says pay to see it, just copy the link in Google and click on the result again.
I know I don't exist in ChexSystems as I had ordered my ChexSystems report and it was empty. I even called EWS and the woman said that my report is empty.

In the 'old days' the angst with ChexSystems was very real, since brick-and-mortar banks were all there was and a simple mistake could truly have an impact - back then without a local bank it could be a challenge to even get your paycheck cashed. A few years back, a regional grocery store chain my area was known to be good about cashing your paycheck if you were making a purchase and had their store check cashing card... ahh, the "good old days". (Joking aside, it was a great option for many people, and there was no fee.)
Today, though, many folks bank online or remotely (mobile phone, tablet, etc.), and if their local banks subscribe to Chex or EWS it's not too difficult to find one that doesn't - and there are plenty. At some banks all new accounts are run through Chex or EWS (I've never heard of both, but I'm sure it's possible) but some banks use neither. It's also well-known that some banks require a certain credit score while others don't even check. If you have a 'situation', it might take a little leg-work to find one that will be a fit, but chances are there will be one.
A quick google search will display quite a few banks that a person with a negative Chex history can get an account with. Granted, it might not be the most well-known banks or even their most desirable accounts, but if Chex is an issue chances are there are some things that need to be worked out (or in the case of stolen ID - corrected) before those better accounts are available anyway.
Just my 2¢.
