I got a run-of-the-mill "policy update" email from Paypal, and out of boredom I decided to see exactly what was changing eventhough usually it's something minor and/or mundane. I'm glad I did, since this time it's something that actually matters.
There are several notable changes (you can check the link below) but the one that got my attention is that as of September 12, 2023 the Backup Funding Source linked bank account feature of the PayPal Business Debit Mastercard will no longer be available. For me, this was one of the primary reasons to have it.

These days I don't use it often, but there have been times in the past where it's been extremely useful. Back when I was 'debit only' I would use it for the 1% cash back (hey, it was better than nothing) and more recently I've used it when I needed to order something to be shipped to another of my Paypal verified addresses (that's different from my credit card billing address). This will still be possible, but going forward it will require a manual transfer from checking to Paypal before the purchase is made instead of Paypal doing the transfer automatically (assuming the existing PP balance isn't sufficient).
Hopefully anybody depending on this product (or more specifically, depending on the backup funding feature) will be able to find an alternative.
thanks for the heads up
not somebody who relys on it or anything, but it was good to have as an option

I liked having the option well.
It seems that every time PayPal comes out with something that's novel or otherwise really useful (e.g. PayPal Key) they end up getting rid of it.
While the PPK was only around for a short time, the ability of the Business Debit Mastercard to pull from a bank account has been around for well over a decade, which makes them getting rid of it especially curious. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
