Is there a reason I cannot see pending transactions online or in my app? I’m a new member of about a week. I have used my debit card 4 times over the past 3 days and have yet to see my balance drop or any pending transactions on my account. I called customer service and they said they can see the pending transactions on their end and “it might take a couple of weeks since you are a new member to be able to see your pending transactions”.
I have never been with any bank or credit union that didn’t show pending transactions in mere seconds after the card was swiped or inserted into the chip reader.
Is this 2 week thing legit or is there possibly something wrong with my account.
I’ve tried calling again to talk to someone higher up but they insist that it’s normal. I just can’t understand since I have never experienced this type of account behavior before.
This doesn’t surprise me with PenFed. I am of the belief that the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing with most transactions.

I would be curious to see if is caused by a bug or they simply have very crude software that doesn't show pending transactions.
I am thinking about using their credit card services but now I am thinking harder whether I should even consider doing business with them.
IME it takes a few business days. Usually it'll be 1-2 business days before the available credit is reduced to reflect the pending transactions and maybe another day or two after that for the actual transaction to post. IDK why it takes that long, but nothing with PenFed is all that fast ime.

I don't like this at all. It makes it more likely for you to overdraft or overspend.

Maybe, but I only use my PenFed card for gas and it's unlikely my gas expenses will ever come close to my CL on that card.
If I wasn't waiting more than two months now for my airline incidental credit (I've called them multiple times), I would close out the card. Their phone reps are fantastic but even they can't seem to coerce their systems.
