I qualifed for both this morning, when extending the term to 60 months, HSBC offered me a 9.9% APR.
PenFed offered me 6.49%.
I believe that they pulled Equifax Fico 9, which was 787 earlier this month. One scoreable inquiry, no new accounts.
Congrats, Taco!
That's a terrific rate! Congratulations on your pre-approval!! 🎉🥂
WOW Congrats
The best Penfed offer me is 9.9% and I been trying to get it down to around 6 to 7%. My scores are around yours (over 800) and NO INQS on TU or EQ only 1 INQ on EX.
LUCKY YOU
Impossible, Penfed never gives best rates!..... lucky SOB, they must really like Tacos😁 🌮
Can't say for certain that it matters, but I've had a personal loan with PenFed before... at a much worse interest rate. Paid it off last year in preperation for the mortgage refinance.
I've got two (now three!) credit cards with them as well. (All with a zero balance currently)
Perhaps my history with them helped?

Im not sure. One would think history would count but my experience with Penfed screams opposite. My previous history sure has not opened up more doors for me. Navy and PSECU feel much different to me but thats why we say credit is YMMV
Congrats Mr.Taco .. I got a 5 year Penfed PL a while back $20K @6.49%
Paid it down ..now at $50.00 balance, pushes the payment way out.
My only installment loan reporting with a balance.
