Last time my son got a check because he doesn't have a bank account.
He just checked status says it was direct deposited 1/4/21 account ending ####😳

Oh no!

Maybe the unknown account number means he's getting a debit card this time instead of a check?

Hmmm I didn't see anything mentioned about this though?

I'm not sure what they list on their site for debit card. They issued a bunch during the first stimulus to people, crazily enough the one's I personally know had bank accounts.
My wife said she had a few customers come through the bank (first stimulus) trying to figure out how to get money off the card because they couldn't have a traditional bank account. For privacy reasons she couldn't elaborate more, just that some got PIN's in the mail and some didn't.
Hopefully your son's money isn't lost or incorrectly deposited and it's on it's way via debit card.
I just checked my status, I'm getting mailed a check again. ![]()
I certainly have bank accounts. but semi retired with SocSec retirement income + part time job income I haven't had any Fed income tax liability for a couple years now & no tax withheld. I only file a Fed tax return to generate an AZ state tax return on Turbo tax. If you work in AZ there's no escaping AZ income tax withholding, so I file to get that back. Well, at least it's not a &^%$! debit card.

You would think by the second time they would realize that people may want to add their bank account for any possible future stimulus actions but no such luck. At least these checks are going out quickly.
Mine finally arrived a couple days ago... looks like it got caught up in the Turbotax debacle. Glad to see they took steps to fix it rather than leaving it at "you can get it when you file your taxes this year."
I still don't have mine. It's been in the mail for a week. I guess we will see when it shows up but I hope it shows up soon because as soon as I get my 1099-INT statements from my banks and CUs, I'm filing my taxes.
