Is there anyone here that has had any experiences converting from Quicken to some other Personal Finance software? Or anyone that wants to convince me how awesome the latest Quicken is, that it is worth an annual subscription fee?
I have Quicken Premier 2016 from before they started charging an annual subscription fee. For the most part, it works fine, but over the years with Windows updates, I started to get these pop up errors, and occasional crashes. I didn't mind upgrading every 3 or 4 years before to keep the software current, but now charging a fee every year when the software doesn't change much seems like a rip off to me, and I don't want my data stored in the cloud somewhere. (I know Quicken still allows me to keep my data local if I want.) I have data going back to 2000, so I would like to be able to transfer my data to any new recommended software and still be able to access it. I'd like to find something that is comparable to Quicken in terms of features (I use it to track all my investments), and it doesn't necessarily have to be free, but as you can see, I am resistant to paying $70+ per year for software that doesn't change much.
TIA!
Intuit is out of control.
QuickBooks costs 10 times as much as it used to.
I would upgrade to the latest version BEFORE the subscription and stay there.
I did that with QuickBooks and it works fine; just keep denying updates.
GL!

You're only looking for personal finance use for this, nothing related to business accouting / payroll, etc.. correct ?
Correct, just personal finance use.
I have the newest quicken with the annual fee. They send out updates 1-2 times a month and it seems every month they add some meaningless feature and then jack-up downloads for 1 to the sky's the limit number of my accounts. the December update was so bad that i had to discontinue my 15 plus year account with them and register a new email and then transfer ownership of the saved files to the new email. what a nightmare,Quicken support was absolutely zero help. I do not think that you can turn the cloud save off anymore,if you can i cannot find a way. good luck.

I am a Tiller/spreadsheet junkie. Since Tiller is built on Excel/Google sheets (take your pick, I am on the excel version), customizing the spreadsheet is doable. There is also a great community forum that also offers other add ons that the community has developed. The sky is the limit with Tiller. Its pretty simple to use. Once your monthly budgets are set up, everything else populates the entire spreadsheet.
I have been using Tiller for 5 years now, and I have tried other software packages and nothing compares.
