Recently, read this survey on how much parents spend on kids' education (and don't regret). Woahh, raising kids is getting tougher and tougher in the US. How many of you have kids and how do you plan for their upbringing (specifically education)?
I have 5 kids and some have completed college, one is in college, and the two little ones are approaching college age. I started a $1000 trust fund for each one when they were born and invested and managed the money for them. Each fund has grown enough to pay for college for each one and provide a little extra to help them when they get out of college. My father had done that for me when I was born and it worked for me, so I carried on the tradition for my kids.
I have three kids. Two of them are in college and one of them is in high school. Loans were taken out for the two in college which I am currently paying for. When or if the third goes to college, I will do the same. My children will never have any student loan debt. I consider it a parent's responsibility.
