Anyone a member or have any feedback on this CU and it's credit products? Seems easy to join but not sure its a HP or SP. Rates seem decent

I'm with the Congressional Federal Credit Union which is located on Capitol Hill.  They have a branch I think it was in Cannon House Bldg down in the basement.    Joined when I was working with a Member of the House of Rep's.   I'm sure they are probably like them.  I joined way back in the late 1990's.  I don't believe they ran chex systems at the time.  I just recently applied for a credit card with them.   They don't like Bk's or collections on your credit report.  I forgot who they pulled it was either EQ or EX.  I'm in GA.  The credit card isn't anything to brag about.  I only applied for it because I was going to close the account down because I rarely use it.  I said if they deny me for the credit card that would be the icing on the cake for me to close the account.  Well they approved me so I kept it open.  lol

No the Congressional Federal Credit Union has a pretty limited field of membership.

Right.  I was just saying they are proabably comparable.

Re: US Senate FCU (USSFCU)

I joined this CU several years ago.

Customer service was awful and they had no compelling products except some great "as low as" auto loan rates (for which I didn't qualify with 8XX FICO scores, strong income and low DTI).

It took several attempts to close out my membership and savings account with a $20 balance.

I still get promotional emails from them.  The opt-out link at the bottom of their messages requires you to log into their web site to complete the process, but they terminate your access to the site when you close your membership.

If you are looking for a clown show, this is your financial institution.

Re: US Senate FCU (USSFCU)

I am a member of this CU in 2019. It was a soft pull. I have a few CDs that I got super-high interest rates on.

I have no other products with them. They do give you your Experian Fico Score every month.

Thanks for this. I was a member in 2002 and am considering reopening an account. I was worried if it was a soft pull or not.

Re: US Senate FCU (USSFCU)

Update. I joined US Senate FCU today. There's no HP for membership.

Eligibility is open to all if you join Virginia chapter of American Consumer Council, and joining is free if you use USSFCU's promo code.

Congratulations for your membership in the American Consumer Council, Virginia Chapter! 😁 I read where there's no NSF or overdraft fees. Must confess it sounds prestigious!

Yeah it's got a lot of good products.

The only thing that's missing is a significant rewards card; but there are plenty of good rewards cards elsewhere.

Seeing this made me chuckle thinking of the "Rubbergate" scandal of the 1990s  where a couple dozen members of Congress bounced hundreds of checks - not collectively, but each  member, including one guy who bounced 996 checks drawn on the Congressional bank)...

Re: US Senate FCU (USSFCU)

I tried to join this CU the other day. They told me to unfreeze my credit reports and I was afraid they would do a hard pull so I just didn't respond. I assume the application was denied because of it. 🤷‍♂️
