my FICO is at a 680 right now, I have 10 positive tradlines and 3 negatives. I am paying down my credit cards to get a extra boost in my score but i am curious has anyone here past 700 with a repo? it seems very possible, in my case... Thanks... Also will getting my score to 700+ help me with new loans?
Positive lines:
6 credit cards open credit cards:
2 unsecured loans
1 closed credit card
1 closed unsecured loan
Negative lines:
1 Auto Repo "2008" Falls off in 2013
2 collections $2000 total.
Speaking as one who does have a redeemed repo (redeemed, voluntary, involuntary...it's all equally damaging) on his CR, you can reach the 700s per FICO scores. Mine is 5.5 yrs old. Just make sure you have a fair comparison. As of last year, you can't pull your EX FICO, so if those scores are from the same source, your FICO scores may be higher.
Increasing your scores would always improve your odds of getting a loan. Of course more falls into that like DTI, income sources, etc. and that doesn't factor into your score.
Thanks, so you have reached 770+! with a past repo on your credit report? Thats amazing! Gives me great hope. I had a local credit union pull my EX FICO 2 months ago...
Great! IMO, age plays a big deal into it and the collections may have to go. Though, if your util is around 36%, you may hit at or super close to 700 by paying that down to 1-2%.
ETA...I do want to point out that one of the two FICOs does not factor in the repo or the lates. I send up to 10 GWs monthly and everytime they receive it, they mark the TL as in dispute and that resulted in FICO not reading the baddie. My payment history on one of them (I think EQ) says "Great" with no other lates or baddies. The other (TU I think) says "Very Good" with that annoying red flag on the Glance page. Both TLs report three 30 days and three 60 days and EQ reports "Repossession" in the worst delinquency and TU reports "None reported", though an "R" appears on the full report on TU. EX says it reports a repo x2, but I can't get access to the score, or at least not until I app for a mortgage somewhere. In any case, 750+ is possible.
