i believe you only have 2 years to pay a phone bill, it is past SOL

There's some debate here, and I disagree, but there is a federal statute that says that the SOL on a phone line is 2 yrs. Makes sense because phone lines were org. regulated by the feds and calls would go across state lines. However, I have seen many lawsuits that were initiated beyond the 2 yr mark, but I don't know if fed. law was used as a defense.

Interesting, I'd never heard that before. I always assumed SOL was 7 years. So, when I speak to AFNI, can I (with some confidence) say that the charge is beyond the 2yr SOL and they can't report it, and respectfully threaten them with legal action if they do?
Again, for $90.00 I'll gladly pay it, obviously I just want to avoid it from appearing on my reports.
Thanks!
Well, now I'm really confused. When something's older than the SOL, I've always interpreted that to mean they can no longer report it. Of course they can always "pursue payment", but legal options and reporting options disappear...due to statute of limitations.
Of course I could be wrong..
