AU on account?

My girl has impeccable, outstanding, 800 range credit. Never a missed payment or single blemish on her file. I am in the mid 650 range and have a few things I need to clear in order to clean up after a messy divorce a few years back. I would say mine is a mix of many good accounts and a few baddies that are bringing the score down. I have made much progress since joining the boards and wonder about the whole Authorized User scenario. She has some high limits on a few CC with moderate util, long history, and impeccable payment history. What are your thoughts about me adding on as an AU on the account? I am wondering if this will be a big jump for me score wise and established history. Most of my CC accounts are only a few yrs old and hers is 10+. We are engaged and will be married in late summer with house hunting 1 year away. Both of us make great money and my current financial situation is excellent despite a few historic blemishes I am resolving.

Re: AU on account?

from what I understand-- you want to pick a tl that is her oldest account.  No missed payments, no going over the limit hisory.

gl with it and let us know if you did it, if it worked.

Re: AU on account?

Calculate what your util is now and what it would be after it is added.

Will it increase your history? (not just CC are counted in history)

It could help, but when FICO 08 takes effect and lenders begin using it, AU accounts will not be calculated into score.

Re: AU on account?

AW.............if your girl is ok with it, yes - absolutely do it.  You will see quite a bump. I added my sister  to 2 of of my AMEX accounts and she realized an increase of 56 points.

You want to be added to a tl with a long history, no lates, and with a high cl. If she has an account(s) like that and she is willing to add you - it's a winner for you.

I wouldn't worry about FICO '08. By the time it kicks in (if ever) we'll all be old and gray.
