Hello
Not sure if this is in the right section, but I figured i'd give it a go. I recently wrote to American Express for goodwill deletion of 3 paid charge offs. Recently I received a notification that changes were made, and the late statuses were removed. When I more closely examined my credit report, they were moved to earlier this year, at which point the accounts were long closed and paid off. Not really sure why this happened, and if they were doing me a favor???? I received a letter today, and the letter stated that the accounts were reporting correctly. Which they were originally, so I'm not sure why things shifted...This is an example of what changes happened:
Acct#1 Before
Jul 17 - 30 Jan 18 - CO
Aug 17 - 60 Feb 18 - -
Sep 17 - 90 Mar 18 - CO
Oct 17 - 120 Apr 18 - CO
Nov 17 - 150 May 18 - CO
Dec 17 - CO Jun 18 - CO
Acct#1 After
Jul 17 - OK Jan 18 - OK Jul 18 - CO
Aug 17 - OK Feb 18 - 30 Aug 18 - CO
Sep 17 - OK Mar 18 - 60
Oct 17 - OK Apr 18 - 90
Nov 17 - OK May 18 - 120
Dec 17 - OK Jun 18 - 150
Any insight would be great! Thank you!!!
All 4 accounts were paid off between January and June of this year.

Ok. Thought it might have been several years ago... With it being this year there isnt much damage being done. This is sometimes the unfortunate side effect of a goodwill request. When it gets updated by dispute or otherwise the CO looks new to Fico so it does drop your Fico score. Reporting it as a CO post payoff is also legit as once it becomes a CO its always a CO. On your next requests for goodwill I would make it very clear you are not disputing anything on the account and are only requesting a GW deletion of it. OCs are hard to get GW deletions from they are really geared for CAs but it doesnt mean you dont try every once in awhile.
