I had started sending out GW letters back in February, and all of my creditors gave me the same responses (basically, "It is our policy to not remove accurate info blah blah blah"), or just didn't even reply to me at all. Cap1 was, to their credit, one of the only ones to personally call me after I sent them goodwill letters, but their answer was still always "No."
Eventually, I gave up. I sent my last round of letters back in like May, got the same responses from everyone, and decided it just wasn't even worth the postage and my time to keep trying anymore.
Then, this week, out of nowhere.... I start getting credit alerts right and left from all my credit monitoring sites, and all 3 bureaus had completely deleted BOTH of my old charged-off Cap1 accounts.
Was it because of my letters? I'm not sure... but I don't know what else it could have been. They never said they'd remove anything, and the last time I asked them to was months ago. They weren't due to fall off my reports automatically for 3 more years.
The net result is my scores didn't change too dramatically for the most part, except for my EQ Vantage 3.0 which shot up 126 points for some reason. Regardless, this is great news and it's renewed my interest in sending more rounds of GW to the remaining creditors now!
