RE: account # xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Customer Relations Manager,

After recently reviewing my credit report, I took notice that the above-mentioned account is currently in Charge off as bad debt status. I sincerely would like to take care of this account as soon as possible.

Due to the fact that I got laid off, I unfortunately got behind on my payments and was unable to meet my obligations. However, since then my situation has greatly improved and I am in the position to recompense this debt.

I am willing to pay First Premier Bank a one time payment equaling the amount of $200.00 provided that the above account is updated on all credit reporting agencies to state: PAID AS AGREED, or completely removed from all credit reporting agencies upon my final payment.

I am not agreeing to an updated credit report that states this account as: “PAID CHARGE OFF” or the like, as this will not significantly increase my credit score, nor will it reflect my sincere willingness to restore my good name and hopefully, someday, again do business with your company.

Your written response will serve as an agreement to my proposal and I will send a certified payment. Thank you very much for your valued time.

Best regards,

Re: Anything wrong with these letters?

The only suggestion I have is....do not give them an option.  In your letters you requested that they specify that your account is Paid as Agreed OR deleted.  Do not give them an option, let them know that you would like to have the tradeline completely deleted from your credit report.

Starting score: (April 2011) 530 - myFICO EQ
Current score: (04/2012) EQ - 608 (myFICO), EX FAKO - 671, TU FAKO - 619

Let's see what happens once they report minus the late payments!!!!!!

Re: Anything wrong with these letters?

Good point.... but... I have been sending PFD letters in the past with no success.....

Is PAID AS AGREED the second best thing to a deletion? I have heard it's better then settle or anything else....but not sure

Re: Anything wrong with these letters?

I agree with tamdugg--don't give them any other options.

Have you been trying PFD for a year with the CA too, and did you DV them?

Re: Anything wrong with these letters?

yes.... and both companies are notorious for not doing ANY pfd... PERIOD... so don't you think this is my best second option?

Re: Anything wrong with these letters?

I would take out the line "and hopefully, someday, again do business with your company" on the letter to LVNV. They are a collection agency, a JDB, they bought the debt you owe them from someone else and I am sure you don't want to do business with them again someday Smiley Happy

LOL, true. I didn't notice that

Maybe add something along the lines of, "and hopefully, I will never hear from you jerkfaces again for the rest of my known existence.."

I don't think there's any difference between 'Paid As Agreed' vs 'Paid in Settlement' when it comes to your FICO score... a paid collection counts as a paid collection. I'll let the more experienced folks here answer that for certain, though.

'Paid As Agreed' might look better if it's your only derogatory TL and someone is looking at the details of your CR, like a potential employer or landlord. You could also tag a consumer statement on it explaining the past situation.

I personally think a delete is always better. You might want to dig deep into the various PFD threads here for further strategies, and maybe take your PFD requests further up the ladder. Perhaps plead your case with some of the OC execs in a combo GW/PFD letter.

Everything I've read about PFD recommends a LOT of patience. I'm impressed you've been at it this long already!
