You may want to search in credit cards for Amex-related posts. Seems to be pretty great to be in with...mostly SPs instead of HPs and you can re-allocate trade lines once you get more than one or you could try to PC.... certainly a insteresting group.

*Usually* SPs for existing cardholders when they apply for a new card, but not guaranteed.

With regards to whether to apply for the Disco now or after the Navy reports, you might get better terms once the Navy card is on there, since I expect it will raise your FICO 8's, but you could go either way, imo.  Disco CLI's are SP and they allow consumer-initiated APR redux requests, so you're less stuck with your initial terms that with someone like Chase.  But if you wait, I expect the Navy card will increase your score some due to your being on a dirty scorecard and the large increase to TCL.  Once you have the Cap1, Navy, and Disco, you'll have what you need for building credit from no-fee cards, so you can start closing your subprime cards as their annual fees come up.

ETA: As far as Amex goes, they like clean files, so I would wait until the charge-off is taken care of and your scores are higher before trying with them.  I think if they were to approve you right now it would be a $1k marginal approval.

I'm guessing if it goes the opposite way it won't be that far, and I can probably recover from it in a few months time. I'll hold out. I don't "need" credit by any means. I'm still working on settling the charge off. I can't someone to take my money, imagine that.
