Hello Ever.yone,
so, i recently have returned to the country, after over three years of absence. Before leaving I had closed my credit card with Capital One... however upon my return i checked my credit score and its showing that it was sent to collections, and with a balance of $315.00. I don't really want to go through the whole dispute process, and would like to negociate a pay to delete for about 60% of the credit to just get it off my credit history and start rebuilding it.
The only information i have is a report ran through credit karma, I havent received any type of correspondence, how to contact them, or any account number or anything. I just see the derogatory mark on my score.
any advice would be appreciated. this is my first time dealing with collections, or any kind of over due payments for that matter. not sure of the best route.
thank you!
Collection Agencies don't pay for delete for settlements. Some will pay for delete if you pay in full. Whatever you do negotiate, get it in writing.
In the search bar of the of the Forums, you can type in Cach with the drop down Community instead of Boards. Seems some have had luck for pay for delete

To obtain their address or phone number , I would suggest doing the $1 7 day trial with Credit Check Total, it will pull up your report and your FICO 8 credit scores, it should have the address in the collection portion, possible phone number also. But be sure to cancel within the week.
Always best to get deleted from your bureau, you definitely don't want it dragging down scores for years, with possible higher interest rates, denials on new credit, getting mortgage, car loan. You want it gone anyway possible.

I can understand you wanting to get the item deleted as soon as possible but you may be able to do so without having to pay the 315.00. Is the collection valid? If not I would definitely dispute it before doing anything else to see if it can be removed.
If it is legitimate PFD is kinda hit or miss, if you can get the company to agree definitely do it in writing.
In my experience I settled a really old collection that was due to fall off the next year for about 30% of what I owed. Then I mailed a goodwill letter to the bureaus to have it removed which was successful.
Chances are the collection might be on Experian as well so you can always sign up for their free monthly credit report online and they provide the address of the collection agency as well as phone number to contact them.
