Authorized User

My mother has offered to make me an authorized user on one or several of her credit cards.  She has excellent credit history, and I am working on rebuilding mine after a divorce and home foreclosure (pending).  I have a Cap One Secured card with a limit of $300 that I use only for gas and pay off bi-weekly each payday and am an Authorized User on my parents' Sears Card (they added me back in college and I haven't used it in years).  I have an auto loan in good standing and 2 student loans in good standing.  I have a few Collection Accounts on my report that I am working to remove via GW and PFD letters.  I also have 2 Charge-Offs from HSBC and Citi.

My question is - how much could I expect becoming an authorized user on my mother's cards to improve my credit score?  I'd like to become an authorized user and then just put them in a drawer, and not use them myself.  I would just be using them for the boost in credit they could give me.

Re: Authorized User

I added someone who was in high 400's and they got about a 40pt bump. Then about months later they were able to get cap one unsecured with $300 limit. Reader the newbie sections because you'll want to do some other things as well to rebuild your credit (deleting old names, disputing accounts, etc)
