So I have great credit. Never any baddies. Today I'm on credit karma and notice a collection added. I pulled my reports from myfico. My score is not 596 on TU. EQ is not reporting the collection. Will they other CRAs report soon? Also I'm not sure where this came from as I can't remember ever having any collection. It is unpaid. I've yet to get anything about this debt in the mail. Am I now stuck with an upaid collection for 7 years? What should I do? I will dispute the validity with the company(collection agency) on Monday but will they remove it? And what happens with my good accounts that are current and in good standing like AMEX? Will they CLD or close my account(s) Please help ASAP!!! Thanks for the time...
I would send out a DV letter first and foremost.
Definately start with the DV letter, to find out where the debt came from. And I wouldn't worry about your creditors, they hopefully won't take adverse action ( AA ) on your accounts based on a single collection. If you had other factors like maxed out credit, or BK, or something like that they would probably be more concerned.

This 1000%... also not all collection agencies report to all 3 breaus...
Thank you so much for the info. I will dispute with Transunion and send a DV letter. This is Northern Resolution Group. They said I owe 500 for a cash advance. I've never done any cash advances in my life. A quick google search shows that they are famous for this kind of erroneous collection. I just don't want to scare off some of my creditors while I dispute this crazy collection. From reading on these boards it seems NRG only reports to TU.
DON'T DISPUTE!!! If you dispute now, you might not be able to later. You need to know what is going on first.
First DV, Then if you agree, PFD. If you don't agree, then come back here and let us know what's up and why you don't agree.
Leave the CRA out of it - they will just screw it up. Trust me.

This totally... You current accounts aren't going to be impacted by what is going on... Also, if they do DV, and it isn't yours you can file with the BBB and your attorney general. Basically, if you didn't take out the loan, its identity theft... They need to remove it.
So I contacted NRG and sent out a letter for DV. I sent it certified mail. I've yet to hear anything back from them. How long does DV usually take? How long should I wait to hear back and what will my next step be at this point? Should I now contact TU and dispute? I know who the OC is and I've never done business with a company of that name, and I am unable to locate the name of the OC anywhere in my state. They are saying that I signed loan documents with them for a pay day loan. The company does not exist in my state. I've made pay loans in the past with Check in the Cash over ten years ago. All of those accounts are closed and have been paid in full and have never reported to my credit reports.
Advice please on next steps...
Have you had any luck with this issue yet?... I have problems with this company too. far worse. they call me and threaten me with police arrests for a debt I've never heard of.

Have you think about fraud account and stuff ? You need to calm down and figure out what you need to do step by step dont be panic and you would screw up the whole process. If you never sign up for that then you shouldnt be so much worry. Its just matter of time they going to delete it. I hate such thing but you know if its me i would call them up and ask very specific question about how the account were establish .......how much ? when ? who ? my signature and such thing.......but right now debt validation gonna be your best buddie first but with CMRR.....good luck
