Hello all,
So, I recently found out that I have a charge off on my credit reports from Bank of America. This is an account that I fell behind with the payments, but would make payments when I could. BofA charge off the account in February 2014 (I made a payment, but not the minimum due) and I paid off the account in March 2014. I honestly had no idea that I was in danger of having it charge of as I had made some payments in the previous 6 months.
I contacted BofA, and they sent me a form letter that states that it is a valid Tradeline and will continue to be reported to Credit Reporting Agency. I also contacted all three agencies and am waiting for their response.
My question is: What are my next steps? Do I have any hope of getting this removed?
Thanks in advance!
Hello and welcome! I don't know what your relationship is with BoA but if they refused to remove the charge-off, you could attempt a goodwill letter. If that will not work you could ask for a status change from "charge off" to "closed"
