Best for FICO Score Payoff or Wait

Barclays Account was charged off in May of 2017.

There is a zero balance.

Last date reported as a charge off his January of 2017.

Estimated month year this will be removed is 2 / 2022.

QUESTION  1:

Why would Barclays and or Midland funding stop reporting this is a charge off in 2017?

QUESTION  2:

Since Barclays and or Midland funding stopped reporting this as a charge off in 2017, is this hurting me as much as if they were to report it every month?

QUESTION  3:   If not, should I then just wait until this falls in February of 2022 instead of paying it off or negotiating a settlement?

Thank you in advance for your comments and advice.

Re: Best for FICO Score Payoff or Wait

1. No idea. I suppose to save money, as it does cost to report monthly.

2. It's still hurting, but a little less than if they were updating it monthly.

3. Since it's pretty close to falling off, and assuming you're outside SOL, yes, I would just wait.

Who is reporting, Barclays or Midland? Midland usually deletes after payment (assuming you paid).

The charge-off hurts but the further you get away from the last time reporting, the better your score is.

Be careful if you try goodwill to NOT trigger a reporting update.
