CCS collection SCAM?????

I got a collection letter settlement from CCS USA collection agency.  aka www.settlementnotice.com offering me for a settlement of 50% and giving me 30days to reply.  IT said I owe Metlife Insurance. I did have Metlife Insurance before and I had completed cancel with them and didnt owe them anything. I did called Metlife and talk to one of the Rep, she looked up my files and it was confirmed that I did NOT owe them and the account was cancel.  the Rep said she never heard of CCS collection agency, and IF Metlife ever to put people on collection they would send it to "Premium Credit Service" ...

Question is what should I do? Should I dis-regard this? I dont want these collection Agency to report this collection to the CRA and it will ding my credit score, plus its not easy to get something to delete of from your report.

Any advice or tips?

Thanks

Re: CCS collection SCAM?????

I have a collection with them for an old GEICO auto insurance bill. It has never shown up on my credit report, which is funny to me, because all my legit debt in collections has always reported. Do you really owe the debt? If so, I'd handle it with the Original Creditor. If they say it's been sent to collections and you have to go through them, find out which collections agency they sent it to. In the past, I've found out that the CA they sold it to is not the one that was contacting me, so I looked at it as a scam, and didn't pay it any mind and never saw them report.

Re: CCS collection SCAM?????

It doesn't sound valid since you verified with the OC, so its not likely to show up on your CR if it does they won't have proof sound more like a scam to me Smiley Wink
