CLI with Delinquency in past 12 months

Based on the success stories I have seen on this forum, I attempted to hit the LUV button a few nights ago on my Cap1 Platinum unsecured card with a $300 limit. I was denied due to a delinquency in the past 12 months. Is this due to the one tme I had a late car payment?

Anything I can do to recover from this other than waiting until the automatic credit steps CLI?

Thanks in advance!

Not really, unless you can get the late removed. I would keep on requesting CLI's right up until your credit steps CLI. It won't hurt you in the least. They may pull a fresh score between now and then, and if your score has gone up they may approve an increase.

Any chance that an EO plea would work?

The EO should not be bothered with CLI issues. You have not even reached credit steps yet have you?

I have not, but reading the posts on this site made it seem as though many people have had success in the 3-4 month old account range by requesting a CLI thorugh the site, getting a denial and reaching out to EO.

Many people do have success in that time frame. However, the EO is not going to over ride the computers decision. I suggest trying again and if you do not have any early success then wait it out until your credit steps increase.

What would you say to the EO? How come I didn't get an early increase and others have? Please don't think I'm being a wise guy because I'm not.

But this situation should not involve the EO. You need to sit tight. I started out just like you are, you will get there sooner or later.

What kind of usage have you put on the card? Do you pay in full, do you pay the minimum due, do you carry a balance? If you carry a balance how much?

If you look at your document from Capital One for the denial reasons (it would be in your documents in your on line capital one account). It does say under the credit reporting agency section that they generally don't give increases if you have late payments with other creditors within the last 12 months.

Re: CLI with Delinquency in past 12 months

I was more thinking that I just about hit the credit limit, pay it down, hit it again, and load up about 40% before the statement comes out. Then I pay in full and do it again. I could actually USE an increase which is more or less why I'm asking for it.

You are likely right about sitting tight. I sometimes forget it's a marathon, not a sprint. It's hard when you see the scores making huge leaps....

Re: CLI with Delinquency in past 12 months

I use about 90% per month, a few times more than once per month. I pay the statement off in full the day after it comes out, or like this month I paid in full a few days before so I had 0% utilization on the statement.
