COLLECTIONS QUESTION...PLEASE HELP!!!!

i had a medical Collection from Sage Recovery pop up on all three of my credit reports in 8/09.  the DOFD is 9/2005.this is an unpaid collection and it is from the hospital that i rarely go to, but i honestly dont know if the debt belongs to me becasue i dont remember going to the hospital during that time frame.  i never received a phone call or a dunning letter.  i sent a dispute letter to Equifax and they verified. i was going to send one to TU and EX also, but i decided to just DV Sage Recovery.  after well more than 30 days they still havent responded.  what should i do?  i dont know if the debt is mine or not because they did not respond to the DV.  if it is mine then i will try a PFD, but im not going to offer them anything if they do not respond to my DV. if they never respond what should i do?

Starting Score: EQ-556, TU-614
Current Score: EQ-718, TU-768, EX-739
Goal Score: EQ-800, TU-800, EX-800

Re: COLLECTIONS QUESTION...PLEASE HELP!!!!

A suggestion would be to write a second DV letter, send it CMRR, to Sage.  In the letter, tell them to delete it from your credit report.  At this point, the debt is unverified (by you) and you can not honestly say whether it is legit or not.

If it is your debt, are you able to pay it off?

Have you called the hospital directly to ask about the old debt?

It has happened, to me, that medical bills get sent to collections, even though the provider is accepting regular, monthly payments.  I never pay the collection agencies.  I always pay the provider.  Even though it's with a ca, the provider still has the records.

Let us know what happens,
