I fell behind in my credit card payments due to unemployment, but was able to sell a property and pay everyone in full in November 2011. American Express did not report the card at all until after it was paid, and reported it in collections in December 2012 with a 0 balance. I disputed the information with Equifax twice, and they replied with the following:
No contact information provided by Equifax
| $0 | 120+ days past due |
| 0 times |
| 0 times |
| 3 times (Apr 2012, Jan 2012, Dec 2011) |
| Legend: | |
I'm afraid to dispute further, as they continue to report as the delinquencies with more current dates. I have proof that the entire balance was paid in November 2011.
I'd have the dispute comments removed before asking a favor of goodwill.
I tried that, and they responded by saying they could not remove it.
How can I do that? Following the online dispute process only seems to make things worse. I'm new to this, and I think there must be a better way of handling this. The information they are providing is false, as there is no way that a paid and closed account can be 120+days late in January.
Keep trying with the GWs. It might take several tries.
ETA...if lates are showing after payment, then keep calling them asking them to roll the lates back. It won't matter per FICO all that much, if at all, but you can segway into a GW request via phone.
Will do. Thanks for your time an advice!
Shane has a thread (In the mortgage forum) with contact info for the big three. Basically, you call and explain that the account is nolonger in dispute.
Personally, I'd rather ask/write for goodwill with no dispute comments showing.
