Capital One CO last week

Hi all. I rebuilt my credit from the 480's to the 680's after not having credit cards and ignoring my debt for many years while barely scraping by. During my rebuild process I got approved for 2 different capital one cards but fell on severly hard times a few months ago. My hard times are over and I'm paying off all my credit card debt but unfortunately when I called capital one to pay off today I discovered that one of the accounts was just charged off. Is there anything I can do? I called multiple times and was basically told I was sol. I'd love to pay in full and have them reopen my account if possible. I just don't know the necessary channels. Thank you so much for your responses!

Re: Capital One CO last week

Hi and welcome!

How much is the debt and how long ago did you stop paying?

Would Cap1 not accept payment? If not, they've sold the debt and are no longer able to collect.

The debt will then need to be paid to the CA. Cap1 should be able to tell you who to contact.

They are not, however, going to simply reopen the account because of payment. You'll have to restart with the application process.

Re: Capital One CO last week

Hi Cole615! Thanks for your response.

I stopped paying around Feb or March. I can't see the account information anymore but will check my credit report.

They were willing to accept the payment as it was just charged off about 10 days ago but I wasn't sure if I should make the payment without figuring out what my best plan of attack should be.

The charge off amount is about $525. I paid off the other card with them in full and will regain charging privileges. I'm not sure if that will help the situation at all...
