Charge Off from Verizon FiOS

A few years ago I responded to a Verizon promo to get FiOS with no contract.  Fast forward a little over a year and we moved to a new place that didn't have FiOS.  I called Verizon to cancel and they tell me via the phone that they are processing the disconnect.  A month or so later I get a bill for the next month, I call and tell them that no, my serivice is disconnected.  The agent tells me they will make sure it is taken care of.  3-4 months and 5-6 calls later we are still going around and around about this until they FINALLY cut off the service.  But they keep sending me a bill for $535.  Tired of dealing with them I just ignored it (dumb I know).

Today (and for some time now) my credit with TU appears to be hurting based on that as I see an entry from Verizon account "Closed as Derogatory" and showing a $535 past due balance with the following note:

Collection Account

Dispute resolved; consumer disagrees, account closed by consumer.

What's my best way to get this cleared up?  Submit a dispute (via CK or directly with TU) or contact Verizon?  I recall some time back seeing a post where someone contacted someone at Verizon on a similar issue and got them to clear it up, but can't seem to locate the post to see the specifics.

Pretty sure this is what caused me to get denied for the Apple Card.  Grrrrr

I would contact the Exec office and demand it be resolved before moving on to other avenues.

Re: Charge Off from Verizon FiOS

I want to say the other post I was thinking of mentioned the executive office.

Fogive me if this is readily posted somewhere, but do we have these contact details shared somewhere in the forum?

There is a backdoor numbers list, if its not listed the exec office info can be found with an internet search or you can try ceoemail.com too.

Re: Charge Off from Verizon FiOS

Verizon is not on the backdoor list (as expected since those are for credit reco).

Ended up randomly trying first.last@ for the CEO. Got a call a few hours later. Confirmed all was cleared by the next day.

Win!! Thank you!!

Now, should I expect the reporting agencies to take a full 30 days to reflect this? Needing to apply for some financing very soon.

It may be anytime in the next 30ish days. I had a CA that took just over 40 days once.

Re: Charge Off from Verizon FiOS

Quick update for those dealing with a Verizon charge off, this process was so painless and fast. While Verizon still holds the blame for causing this problem in the first place, I have to give them kudos for stepping up and clearing it up ASAP.

I believe my original contact was on 11/8, by 11/9 it was fully addressed and by 11/13 the entry was removed from my TU report (the only place I saw it).

My score popped up by 60+ points! Ready to try for the Apple Card again (after we get that personal loan we need for some family planning stuff).

Thanks again everyone!
