Charge-Off

Hi,

I was wondering if it possible to get charge-off deleted from your report ,and how can I do it . I know I can Wright letter to the original creditor, but I am looking for other options?

Can you also ask for deletion from credit report because of inaccurate niformation like the reported the wrong date ?

Thanks every body.

Re: Charge-Off

The only way to compel deletion of a charge-off is to show that the charge-off itself was improper.

That requires either a showing that the debt was not delinquent at the time they took that accounting measure, or to contest their determination that they considered the debt to have become uncollectible.  Once a delinquency has reached 150-180 days late, that is usually prima facie basis for a conclusion that the debt is considered uncollectilbe.

As for deletion of information based on an inaccuracy, it is not a violation of the FCRA to have reported inaccurate information.  No statute can mandate human accuracy.

Once you have made them aware of an inaccuracy, such as by filing a dispute, they always have the first option of simply correcting their reporting so as to overcome any inaccuracy.  Deletion of reporting is only required if they fail to verify its accuracy as reported or tocorrect the inaccuracy.

Even if they fail to verify or correct within the dispute period, they can always provide verification at a later time and have the information resinserted.

Re: Charge-Off

Hi again,

I was wondering how do I find out the date that debt was charge off. I am looking on my report, but those not give me the date it just saying the date it was closed witch they saying it about one year from that last payment it was made ?

Even on Equifax report those not show date.

I order 3-in1 credit report and I find this information in more:

I  have 2 mortgages, but on Equifax report it saying that I have 3 , 3 on transunion, and 2 on xperain.  You think I should dispute it with Equifax and transunion and tell them that I only have 2 mortgages, but is that going to hurt my credit score in any way?

Re: Charge-Off

The date of the actual charge-off is kinda immaterial, as is the date they choose to report that action to the CRA.

The date for continued presence in your CR is governed only by the date of first delinquency on the OC account, which is a separate date-certain unrelated to the subsequent charge-off.  That date usually precedes the date they ultimately determined the debt to have become uncollectible and took the charged-off by approx 150-180 days.

They were required to have reported the DOFD to the CRA within 90 days after reporting the charge-off, and that is the only date used by the CRA in monitoring its credit report exclusion period.

Re: Charge-Off

Start with pulling your FREE CR's from (ACR) annualcreditreport.com . they tend to have more info on them, then ones from a 3rd   party.   The CR's from ACR, come directly from each of the CRA's. You can pull 1 Free CR from TU,EQ and EX every 12 months.

Save your money and Don't Buy the Scores, they are what we call FAKO's.
