Closed Accounts

How long does it take for a closed account to drop from your credit report? Is this time after the account was opened or after the account was closed?

Re: Closed Accounts

It depends.  If it was closed in good standing, paid as agreed it will stay for up to 10 years from the date closed.

If it only had lates on it, the lates will drop off 7 years from their occurence and the account will turn positive when the last one falls off and stay for up to 10 years from date closed.

If it is a CO or collection, 7.5 years from the DoFD.
