Collection, Credence RM

I currently have a paid collection from Credence Resource Management. Its from AT&T and it's been paid off. When I paid it off through the collection agency they assured me that it will be removed if paid in full on April 8th. I recently called them and they said they're waiting on AT&T to recall the debt and then it will be removed. I called AT&T and they told me since the collection agency owns the account they're the only ones that can delete it, and they don't even know how to recall a debt that's already been sold.

Welcome @Anonymous

Its a catch 22. They may have said that so you'd pay. On the other hand. Most CA's wont send verification letters because of their contracts with the CRA'as to report accurately and they dont want their letters sent in for disputes.

Also it may depend on when the CA updates their files on the CRA's. Some take 30-45 days to do so. Give it a little more time. Hope you got the agents name. But AT&T wont delete nothing. They are brutal like Directv. Telecommunication companies are the worst to deal with. Good Luck!

Re: Collection, Credence RM

It's just frustrating because it's the only deragatory mark on my credit. It's dated for August of 2019 it went to collections but I haven't had AT&T since 2017. I don't have the agents name but I have an app on my phone that recorded the entire conversation.

Very good. Your next move after giving them the time that Firemedic has recommended would be a complaint to the BBB with a transcript of that call. Welcome to the board Smiley Happy

Should I email them a demanding but respectful email requesting them to pull it off and tell them that I have an audio recording of them saying it will be deleted once paid, and if they refuse to do so I'll contact the BBB with that recording?

Hey @Anonymous! Did you ever get this resolved? The only reason that I am asking is because I have an account with them from DTV, and I want to see if they will do a PFD.

Re: Collection, Credence RM

I did. I paid the collection agency and just emailed them to the point they probably hated me, but it has been deleted from my credit report fairly quickly.
