I had an old collection that was bogus and disputed it a couple of years ago and had it removed. Now it is showing up again with a new company and later date but the same amount. Is there anyway I can block this from happening? My score tanked 30 points. I have the original letter from my old apartment complex that states it was an error in the first place. Now false debt is being sold to new companies.

I would be sending them a C&D with demand for its immediate removal and that it be returned to the OC so it cannot be sold again. You will need to send copy of the letter from the OC indicating it was a mistake to begin with. Good luck

This is where you would do the direct dispute with proof. File a direct dispute and include the letter. Failure on their part to remove the debt would constitute a small claims suit against them for $1000.
