Collections - ATT

I had an ATT unverse account and then I moved and tried to transfer service, the new location did not have the services they promised me it would have.

I went through several phone calls and finally they informed me they would waive the ETF and zero out my account balance.

In December I received a collections letter for my att account. I was immediately upset and knew att didn’t do what they said they were going to do. I recently called att and they were awful and suggested I call the collections company. I finally complained enough and told them it was their fault I have a collections on two of my credit reports. They admitted to the mistakes and zeroed out the account and asked me to contact the collections company to inform them.

I called the CA and they suggested I pay the balance and have att provide me with a gift card for what I paid. I laughed at them for suggesting that option. They finally said they would file a dispute with ATT so att can inform them of the mistake.

I also filed a dispute with the two credit agencies to have this deleted from my reports

Is there anything else you would recommend? It really has me so upset because I’m looking to make some credit moves over the next 2-3 months.

Sorry this happened, one word of advice Document everything you do,

phone calls, emails, letters. print your current credit report. anything that applies to your dispute process.

Print or copy and put in a folder.

Re: Collections - ATT

Call center employees are graded on how fast they handle a call.

They will say anything to make you happy and get you off the line.

ALWAYS get that sort of stuff in WRITING.

Re: Collections - ATT

Do you have your final bill or access to print the PDF bill online and see what it says on it? This may help to see if they went with their word.

Re: Collections - ATT

Hey. I'm several months off with seeing this (as I'm new here). If you're still trying to resolve this, a good solution could to report the collections agency to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. You can do an online complaint in a matter of 5 to 10 minutes. I've had to do this before and the collection in my case was removed within a week but they do give the complaining up to about 15 or so days to respond. Do NOT communicate with the ca again not at&t. Just send the collections letter to the CFPB and let them know that you don't be owe them/express your situation

Re: Collections - ATT

File this official 30 day notice of intended Arbitration with ATT.  This is their policy.  Copy the CA in the letter of intent to Arb.  They will run for the freaking hills.

Further, if you follwed through, it will cost them $5k upfront.  They pay all costs aside from a couple hundred bucks for you to file.  They would offer a settlement for your damages.  Verizon has this same policy as well by the way.   Otherwise, just a letter of intent will make this go away.
