I had a collections on my credit report for $72 that was medical and I paid it. It was the only collection account I had on Transunion and on Experian. (wasn't showing on equifax) When I paid it the guy told me it would be deleted, but it hasn't deleted yet. I decided to send a dispute to experian to see if that would help speed up the deletion process since it was paid and I could provide the info to prove it. Experian (after only a few hours of putting in the dispute) sent me an email with an outcome of "deleted". I'm assuming this will maybe reflect on myfico.com soon?!?! My question really is, will this mean that it will delete from Transunion also or will I need to dispute with them? It will only let you do one online dispute with Transunion and (not knowing any better) I disputed old info that needed to be removed from my transunion report so now I can't do an online dispute. Any suggestions??
CRA policy, as set forth in their standard credit reporting manual used by each of the big-3 CRAs, is that a collection should not be deleted based on payment of the debt.
A dispute asserting an inaccuracy in reporting based on payment of the debt lacks a showing of inaccuracy, and is contrary to CRA policy.
The debt collector apparently stated they would delete, notwithstanding CRA policy.
To dispute and request the CRA to delete for a reason directly contrary to their established policy is not a proper basis for dispute.
Recourse is to hold the debt collector to be in breach of their oral contract agreement.
I would call the debt collector and inform them that if they dont delete with each CRA, you will initiate a breach of contract action.
Experian is the first to update anything. They are ontop of things
Transunion can take a good week to update. Its always the last to update for me.
