Collections Help

I'm new to the forum and also new to proactively managing my credit.  Below is my problem.

The particular debt is from an emergency room visit back in 08/05.  I was on my parent's insurance plan at that time.  After speaking to the OC it turns out that they 1) never had my address on file (which I think is odd since don't they get that information when you go the hospital?), 2) "aren't in the business of tracking down addresses", and 3) thus they admittedly never sent out a bill for the amount due.  The debt was sent to collections 10/05.

My question is whether or not I can get the debt cleared off my report, and if so, how?

Re: Collections Help

If you can PIF the debt........Ask the OC to mail you a bill. Also ask if they will pull it back from the CA if you PIF. If they agree get it in writing.

If they agree to pull it from the CA and you have it in writing then PIF using the restrictive endoresment!!

If they do not agree....you may PIF using the restrictive endoresment and then start the HIPAA process........OR...start the process and then PIF using the OC letter and restrictive endoresment.

Always opt out with the CRAs when you have any collections.
