I am hoping, praying, crossing fingers/toes, etc. that I will qualify for a mortgage in the not-so-distant future.
Unfortunately, I have a bunch of awful collections on my credit report and I could use some advice.
A broker sent me my Kroll report and I'm a little confused. Most of my confusion centers around the 12-24 months "clean credit" time period. What I don't quite understand is, on these collections, will they consider them starting from the date the collection agency last reported, the date the collection agency opened their account, the date of last activity, or the date of first delinquency (which I can't seem to find on these reports)?
Can a collection agency change the date of last activity just by me talking to them (not making a payment or agreement to pay)? If so, I think I screwed myself over by attempting PFD's. What about a collection agency that just started reporting (08/08) and is reporting last activity as 08/08 for an account that charged off/went delinquent back in 2006? Are they allowed to do that?
I know this is long and these are probably dumb questions but I could use all the advice I can get! Thanks!
