Hello,
A creditor said that I made a payment on a charged-off account right before they sold the debt to a collector, I did not make any payment to them. Obviously they did this to reset the statue of limitations. My question is can they do this, if we end up in court how could I prove that I did not make a payment?
Also, the alleged payment was 4 years ago and I no longer have the bank I did at that time they made this claim.
Thank you

Ask for the amount, date and time of the payment and the last 4 digits of the bank account.
Call your bank and ask for your bank records for that year.
